London, United Kingdom East London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An opportunity has arisen for a drama/dance/music/movement therapist at The Coborn Centre for Adolescent Mental Health. The Coborn Centre is an in-patient unit for young people aged between 12-18 years with acute mental health problems and complex mental health needs. The unit is comprised of a twelve bedded Acute in-patient ward, a twelve bedded Psychiatric intensive Care Unit (PICU), a smaller PICU ward with four beds and nine places in the Day service. The catchment area we serve is multi-ethnic and culturally diverse and we welcome applicants who are skilled at working with the richness and complexity of this multicultural context.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated drama/dance/music/movement therapist with a passion for working with young people and their families to join our extensive culturally diverse multidisciplinary team. The post will offer you the opportunity to work in an innovative specialist service that encourages learning, self-development and innovation. In addition to your regular formal supervision, you would have access to peer supervision from the large team of art therapists in the local Newham CAMHS team as well as the wider Trust.

You will have the opportunity to facilitate staff reflective practice groups and offer clinical supervision. You will have opportunities to work collaboratively with an experienced multi-disciplinary team to plan young people's care.

To provide comprehensive specialist assessments, including risk assessment of children, young people and their families/carers referred with moderate, complex and severe mental health problems.

To provide consultation and where appropriate training to other professionals who come into contact with children, young people and their families/carers referred with moderate, complex and severe mental health problems.

Based on these assessments and reports to convey sensitive, complex and sometimes unwelcome information to clients and other professionals and manage this as constructively as possible.

To be a resource of specialist advice, specifically relating to the common emotional and behavioural problems and disorders of children and young people, to colleagues within the Coborn Centre, other professionals and other agencies/organisations working in the field of adolescent mental health.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

Please kindly refer to the Job Description (JD) and Person Specification (PS) attached to this vacancy.
