Scientist

The Scientist will work with the technical team at Medherant to develop products including novel transdermal patch technologies. Perform analysis on prototype patch products; generating, collating and presenting data. Maintain a high-quality service by ensuringthey adhere to standard operating procedures and policies.
**Main Responsibilities**
1 Perform sample analysis and studies as required maintaining high quality standards and in accordance with SOPs
2 Perform data analysis, including use of excel, Origin etc
3 Record all results clearly and precisely in laboratory books and electronic records, ensuring all data is captured
4 Assist in report writing as required
5 Assist in routine maintenance of laboratory and analytical equipment
6 Prepare adequate reagents and supplies for experiments
7 Maintain laboratory equipment, perform maintenance and document as required
8 Ensure all glassware, laboratory and equipment is clean and maintained
9 Work in a tidy, organised and timely fashion, in accordance with laboratory procedures
10 Ensure correct laboratory waste handling and disposal
11 Maintain the stock inventory, ensuring its appropriately completed and regularly updated and to report low stock supplies to the Laboratory Manager
12 Take responsibility for training records, ensuring they are kept up to date.
13 Keep up to date with Laboratory SOPs and policies, maintain competency in procedures
14 Work in accordance with Health and Safety and other regulations
15 Understand COSHH and risk assessments for procedures in the laboratory
16 Aware of PPE and ensure it is used in accordance with Health and Safety and SOPs
17 Demonstrate procedures and supervise more junior staff as required
**Skills & Qualifications**
- Minimum BSc in chemical or related sciences or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with HPLC, FTIR, NMR and related techniques.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data using specific data analysis packages.
- Proven track record of delivering effectively to deadlines within academic or industrial environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be practical, diligent and conscientious, able to work alone and as part of a team.
- Be able to uphold and comply with the statutory provision of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and any other relevant legislation and policies or procedures relating to Health & Safety at Work.
- Understand COSHH and risk assessments for procedures in the laboratory
- Aware of PPE and ensure it is used in accordance with Health and Safety and SOPs
- Be eligible to work full time in the UK without restriction.
