**The Post in Context**
The priorities of the Skate Guards are:
- To provide a friendly and efficient service to all customers.
- To ensure the safety of all users.
The role of the skate-guard is to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the Roller Disco. The skate-guard is to ensure that the public are safe on the “floor” and that all hazards are removed from the skating area. If somebody falls over they are to ensure that skaters are aware of the fallen person and to stand in front of them with arms out shielding them from oncoming skaters. If they require assistance to the exit the floor then the skate-guard is to provide this. To ensure that there is adequate cover on the floor whilst the sessions are running. To police the floor and ensure that skaters are not eating or drinking whilst skating. To ensure that the abilities of the skaters are coherent to the session that they are skating in i.e. if there is a speed skate the floor it is not full of beginners. Skate-guards may be required to help set up and take down at the beginning and end of the session. Skate-guards are expected to get involved with the games and again ensure safety and enjoyment of skaters. If requested and adequate cover they may be required to help skaters to improve their skating. Skate-guards may be required to cover other sessions, such as parties.
