There may be occasions when it will be necessary to work at other locations which would include staying overnight for training and other business requirements.

Hours

You will be working 7.5 hours per week and this will usually be on Saturday or Sunday (normal hours). This role is a cover role so the post holder will be expected to be available to cover up to a further 30 hours per week to cover holidays and sickness and be available to do so, sometimes at short notice.

Job Purpose

To help maintain the standards in our Yorkshire Cat Rescue Charity Shop in Keighley ensuring efficient and effective management of volunteers, premises and stock to provide a high quality retail service and

achieve targets that may be set.

To create a welcoming environment and brilliant shopping experience for customers.

Ensure all volunteers are providing great customer service.

To ensure that all appropriate standards of security and health and safety are met.

Job Dimensions
- To maximise shop income and achieve targets that may be set.
- To ensure Gift aid is maintained and training given to all the team and that it is understood.
- To ensure that the shop premises are clean and tidy at all times and that all goods are displayed

in an attractive and presentable manner.
- To act as key holder: to open and close the shop for agreed trading hours and ensure that the premises are secure on leaving. To respond to emergency call out if and when necessary.
- To support the manager and assistant manager, liaising with them concerning presentation, targets, volunteer rotas etc.
- Ensure rotation of all stock and housekeeping rotas are in place.
- To recruit, train, support and supervise the work of all volunteers in the charity shop encouraging an active interest in the shop and the work of Yorkshire Cat Rescue.
- To ensure that the shop is adequately staffed at all times and ensuring recruitment of new volunteers is always addressed. Establish appropriate rotas for volunteers.
- To generate stock donations to meet sales requirements: accept sort, price and display

stock in accordance with Yorkshire Cat Rescue guidelines.
- To have an awareness of valuables and collectables

**Responsibilities**:
This job description summarises the main duties and responsibilities of the post, however, the post holder may be required to undertake other duties of a similar level and responsibility, as required.
- Publicise the shop
- Enhance the image of the charity within Yorkshire
- Ensure all queries about Yorkshire Cat Rescue are passed to the centre and that all information held at the shop is up to date.
- Maintain good relations with the public.
- To develop a programme of themed window displays.
- To ensure that all financial administrative procedures are followed including banking, cash register reconciliation, weekly returns and personal information regarding volunteers is up to date on the system.
- To work closely with the staff to ensure all problems in the shop are resolved quickly and effectively.
- To ensure that volunteers are aware of and comply with all Yorkshire Cat Rescue’s Health and Safety policies and procedures. To ensure responsibilities are met concerning fire regulations. To report any incidents or potential incidents in the shop to the staff.
- Ensure all maintenance issues are reported and logged.
- Ensure the Diversity and Equality policy is adhered to alongside all the Yorkshire Cat Rescue policies.
- Any other duties or responsibilities that are consistent with the post of Retail Assistant.

Develop a close working relationship with all staff and volunteers who work within the charity ensuring a positive view of the charity is being promoted at all times

Attend any team meetings as appropriate

Attend training as required to maintain your own knowledge and development.

**Salary**: From £9.50 per hour
