Head of Technical

World of Sweets is one of the UK’s leading confectionery distributors, our products include a large range of branded chocolates, American novelty sweets and wholesale pick and mix. We are part of a group of companies incorporating Hancocks Cash & Carry, Bonds of London and Bobby’s Foods.

We are currently looking to recruit a **Head of Technical & Compliance** to join our growing business. This role will lead our technical teams across the business and will be responsible for delivering our commitment to distribute and pack high-quality and safe products that meet and exceed our customers expectations all whilst ensuring we achieve relevant industry standard certification.

Our current technical teams are split across our head office site in Loughborough (LE11 5TX) and our packing facility in Sutton-in-Ashfield (NG17 5LD), this role will lead both teams so a need for travel on a weekly basis will be needed between both sites. As a business we work on a hybrid approach so the successful individual once induction is complete can choose to work remotely for part of the working week. This is a newly created role that will form part of our Senior Management Team.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

- Foster a sustainable and commercial approach to quality and food safety culture through the continuous improvement of effective food safety and quality management systems that meets BRC, customer standards and industry best practice across the group.
- Develop and deliver the Group’s technical compliance strategy.
- Leadership of our technical and compliance teams to ensure that our food safety and quality policies and standards are documented, communicated, readily accessible and implemented by our colleagues.
- Lead on audit across the group for both technical standards but also legal and environmental. Also working closely with counterparts in Human Resources and site management to ensure ethical compliance.
- Work closely with the Head of Product to manage workload/projects on New Product Development to provide regulatory and technical compliance advice as part of New Product Development project teams at our own facilities and at 3rd party supplier partner factories.
- Set food safety and quality objectives to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with all standards and regulations.
- Ensure that our food safety and quality standards and expectations are communicated to and met by our trusted suppliers, and integral to our sourcing practices.
- Promote an inclusive culture of food safety and quality in all colleagues and suppliers by identifying resources and training requirements, and encouraging communication of any issues that may affect the safety or quality of our products wherever they may occur in our supply chain.
- Regularly review and revise our policies and objectives, including when changes to legislation or technical knowledge occur.

We are looking for someone who has proven leadership of a technical and/or compliance team previously within the FMCG industry. They will have a commercial approach and be experienced in influencing various stakeholders both internally and externally with their excellent communication skills. A keen eye for detail is a must in this role along with experience of managing or working within a technical team working to a BRC framework previously.

**Salary**: £55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
