Volunteer Receptionist

Our main reception volunteers play an important role in welcoming patients’ families and visitors so it is crucial you are approachable, friendly and can offer a friendly smile to everyone who walks through our doors.

We are looking for support in the during the evenings and at weekends

Key tasks include:

- Welcome patients, relatives, Hospice visitors
- Help to maintain appropriate access to patient areas
- Receive and route telephone calls, using a digital telephone system
- Control access to Hospice parking areas
- Undertake additional tasks as required
- Able to work on own initiative with flexibility
- Strong communication / interpersonal skills
- Empathy with service users, who can at times be distressed
- Compassionate, calm and confident
- Understanding of boundaries and confidentiality
- Weekly or fortnightly commitment
- Computer literate - confident user of screen, keyboard and mouse

A sense of humour helps - hospices are full of laughter
