**Teaching Assistant (Phonics Support)**:
**Location**:Worthing
**Job Title**:Teaching Assistant
**Hours**:Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30 (Term Time Only)

A primary school in Worthing is seeking a teaching assistant with experience supporting phonics learning in Reception and Year 1. This role will involve working 1:1 and with small groups of children, focusing on phonics development and early reading. An understanding of the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check and the ability to help children progress in their literacy skills is essential.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Deliver phonics interventions and support classroom teaching in Reception and Year 1
- Work 1:1 with pupils needing additional phonics support, helping them develop early reading skills
- Assist with small-group phonics sessions, ensuring children gain confidence in decoding and blending sounds
- Support children who have speech and language challenges that impact their literacy development
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCo
- Follow safeguarding policies and ensure a safe, structured learning environment

**Essential Experience/Attributes**:

- Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs
- Experience working with phonics, particularly in Reception and Year 1, and knowledge of the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check
- A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team
- The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to the needs of the pupils
- Must be able to understand and follow the school's safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies
- Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably
- Provide details for us to complete reference checks before employment. _
- Provide an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one (which Pink Tile can assist with). _
