**HOURS OF WORK**: The Wellbeing Centre Co-ordinator will work an average of 32 hours per week, up to 6 days per week, term time only. The Wellbeing Centre is open for 22 Saturdays in the academic year and typically open no more than two consecutive Saturdays (except the final half of the Summer Term).

Weekly working hours in term time are typically:

- Monday - Friday, 10:00 - 17:00 (with 1 hour unpaid lunch)
- Saturday (when open) 12:00-17:00 (with 30mins unpaid lunch break)

**SALARY**: Dependant on experience, £24,787.96 - £27,154.27 per annum.

**ANNUAL LEAVE**: 25 days holiday (plus 8 Bank Holidays) pro rate for 0.71 FTE

**THE POST**

The Wellbeing Centre Co-ordinator is an important part of the Wellbeing Centre staff team. They will work closely with the Senior Sister, School Nurse and other healthcare professionals such as those at the School’s Local GP Surgery, the School Counsellor, Physiotherapist and Medical Driver. In addition, they will also liaise with Senior House Staff, House Matrons and Resident and Non-Resident Tutors to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Wellbeing Centre in support of the School’s Wellbeing team.

The Wellbeing Centre Co-ordinator will also act as a First Aider and medical support assistant when required.

A commitment to the values and expectations of Giggleswick’s boarding community and to the welfare of the pupils is a vital component of the job. The Wellbeing Centre is somewhere pupils may come to for support, advice and space. The Wellbeing Centre Co-ordinator is a responsible adult who may act in support of the School Nursing team to offer support to pupils and be an additional ‘listening ear’. This could be, for example, listening to their concerns, offering simple advice on things such as friendships or academic issues, and signposting pupils to other staff for more specialist help.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Wellbeing Centre Co-ordinator will manage the day-to-day operational running of the Wellbeing Centre and assist the School Nurses in maintaining the smooth running of the Wellbeing Centre. The role includes:

- Management of clinical hours/staff rotas.
- Supporting the management of the Wellbeing Centre budget.
- Communicate, verbally or in writing, as appropriate with parents, guardians, colleagues and third-party healthcare professionals.
- Management of transport for pupils to and from medical appointments
- Liaison with the GP Surgery regarding pupil appointments, referrals to specialists, etc.
- Manage pupil medical appointments and keep doctor’s diaries up to date.
- Liaison with other external agencies regarding pupils (in support of the School Nurses).
- Management of School Counsellor and Physiotherapist appointment schedules (in conjunction with School Nurses).
- Answering incoming telephone calls and directing them appropriately.
- Overseeing the creation of new pupil medical files (in conjunction with the School Nurses and Admissions Team).
- Removing all Leavers' medical files.
- Ensuring the School Database (ISAMS) is kept up to date.
- Under the guidance of the School Nurses, circulating the most recent Allergy list and Medical List at the start of each academic year, and throughout the year when necessary, to teaching staff and the Catering Department.
- Assist with the processing of school trip forms.
- Manage school vaccinations and documentation.
- Ensuring that the Wellbeing Centre is kept tidy and fully stocked with the necessary equipment and medical supplies.
- Escort pupils back to class/House if necessary.
- Collect prescriptions from the local Chemist.
- Ensure that all information about pupils/staff remains confidential in line with the Medical team NMC code of conduct.

**Healthcare Assistant Role**
- Care for sick or injured pupils and staff and administer First Aid for minor injuries or sickness in the absence of the School Nurse.
- Escort pupils and staff to hospital or appointments if necessary, and generally give comfort and care to such pupils and staff.
- Record and carefully document any sickness problem of a pupil or staff and give necessary regular treatment or medication with the written consent of parents and in line with school policy (only in the absence of a School Nurse). Complete accident reports if necessary.
- Familiarise yourself with and follow the School’s various medical and First Aid policies.
- Care for and comfort pupils in times of distress or difficulty.
- Collect meals from the Dining Hall for all pupils who are ‘in-patients’ during the school day.
- Supervising and monitoring ill pupils within the Wellbeing Centre, including taking temperatures, pulse, etc.
