Unix Consultant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen here at Service Express We are seeking **UNIX Consultant** in the Bedford area to join our forward thinking employee focused organisation.

This is a full time position, where you will be responsible for the design, implementation and support of Service Express and customer systems and solutions based on the UNIX platform, including Disaster Recovery; providing support to customers and client personnel as part of contracted services and Software Support contracts; supporting Sales and Client Services teams.

**What you will do**:

- Design, implement and support Service Express internal systems based on the UNIX platform.
- Design, implement and support the Disaster Recovery process for Service Express internal UNIX based systems.
- Supporting Sales team in pre and post sales activities, providing high quality technical design and proposal documentation.
- To provide assistance and support to customers and client personnel as part of the services covered by services and software support contracts.
- Provide support, guidance and assistance to internal and external personnel in the use of UNIX and UNIX virtualisation technologies and high availability solutions.
- Ongoing support to the Client Services Team in delivering contracted services.
- Maintain currency with Virtualisation software and emerging technologies.
- To deliver new UNIX based contracted services solutions
- Work closely with other team members to implement projects.
- Training and mentoring of other UNIX team members to ensure service and project delivery is maintained at all times.
- Resolving support calls and attending customer sites as appropriate.
- Provide 3rd level support to all contracted services customers.

**What you will bring**:

- AIX 6 or 7 Systems Administration, Linux Redhat Systems Admin or LPIC-2 equivalent
- Knowledge of pSeries hardware and technologies
- Knowledge of storage hardware and network solutions
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and ISO/PCI Standards.
- Knowledge of Managed Services and Customer based solutions.
- UNIX Systems Administration skills & UNIX Performance analysis skills
- UNIX Architectural knowledge
- Experience in Shell scripting, Power HA and SAN
- TSM knowledge desired but not necessary
- Experience in Lpar/HMC
- Database knowledge
- Linux knowledge
- DR Experience
- Ability to conform to Blue Chip procedures and policies
- Ability to produce technical documents & procedures
- Ability to assist/train staff
- Excellent problem determination, analytical and resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills internally & externally
