Are you looking for a challenging and interesting position? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Warehouse Operative, based at Defence Munitions (DM) Crombie.

You will provide support to receive, store, maintain and issue the range of General Munitions (GM) and Complex Weapons (CW) as mandated by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to equip the Armed Services. The role will provide a mix of working within a team, and independent working.

As a multi-skilled individual, who can work flexibly, you will be operating a varied range of mechanical handling equipment in DM warehouses. Other essential tasks will be required such as berthing, loading and unberthing Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships on our deep-water Jetty, operating fixed machinery and shoring ISO Containers.

Above all, you will need to be passionate about safety processes and procedures to closely follow the guidance that mean ammunition and explosives are handled in a safe, effective, and consistent way.

This role is 100% site based. It is a 37-hour, flexible working week. The usual hours are 0730-1615 Mon-Thurs, 0730-1230 Fri.

**Responsibilities**

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

- Ensure all routine and/or priority receipts and issues are thoroughly checked, paperwork or computer records are completed accurately
- Handle munitions and explosives in a safe and efficient manner to comply with Safe Systems of Work
- Assist with packing and unpacking of ISO Containers
- Operate a variety of Mechanical Handling Equipment (cranes and large vehicles with manual transmission) to carry out various driving duties, including loading, and unloading, delivering, or collecting units, and be proficient in the use of hand tools/wood working equipment as required for their duties. Full training will be provided adhering to the relevant organisation’s Health and Safety regulations
- Assist with all logistics and storage activities to ensure that customers’ requirements are met on time and in full, this may include working on-board HM Ships and at other military establishments
- As directed, assist other team members, or carry out additional ad-hoc tasks appropriate to the role
- Maintain a high standard of security, cleanliness and housekeeping within the explosive’s storage and processing facilities
- Monitor explosives safety including maintaining explosives limits and environmental conditions within the explosives processing facilities
- Ensure all palletised loads are prepared and documented in accordance with the relevant Unit Load Specification

Please note: Work will be conducted in mixed/varied working environments. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be always worn (and will be provided).

**Person specification**:

- Previous warehouse or stock management experience
- Hold a Full UK manual transmission driving licence
- Over the age of 18 years old, due to Explosive Handling Regulations

It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:

- Previous experience of operating manual handling equipment
