A school in Templecombe, Somerset requires a skilled Teaching Assistant to work with a boy in Year 6 who is touch averse. The school is long established, with excellent facilities and is celebrated for the diverse backgrounds of the pupils. Staff at the schoolhave high aspirations for all children and every pupil is supported to make educational progress.
The right person for this role will have experience of working in a school with Special Educational Needs (S.E.N.D.) children. They will also have techniques for engaging children who are hard to reach. Autism teaching techniques will be helpful in this role.You will be required to assist the child around the school, especially moving between lessons. You will help the child with their school work within the lesson and occasionally work 1:1 with the child outside the classroom. The school require a person whohas helped children with Autism Spectrum Condition (A.S.C.) in the past.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting 1:1 in class and meeting their individual needs.
- Help the pupil to access the curriculum and possibly tailor the lesson of the activity to their level of ability.
- Be a support to the students when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focussed.
Essential criteria:
Previous experience working with individuals with SEN/Autism/Complex Needs/SEMH.
Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa).
At least one recent child-based reference and relevant DBS/ Police checks.
