We are excited to be able to announce that with new mental health transformation funding we will be launching a service aimed at identifying and supporting those at risk of developing psychosis symptoms - an ARMS (At Risk Mental State) service. There will be a number of new posts in this new multi-disciplinary team aimed at offering predominantly, but not exclusively, psychosocial interventions with an evidence base of mental health prevention. This post will be part of that new team.

As a specialist mental health service, ARMS is based on NICE-recommended interventions which include comprehensive assessment and psychological interventions for psychosis or co-existing mental health problems. These activities are often supported with family interventions, care coordination, social prescribing and education/employment support. The psychological therapists are an integral part of the ARMS multi-disciplinary team. Key responsibilities would include supporting the team in developing psychological formulation for treatment planning; assisting assessment using psychometric tools such as Comprehensive Assessment of At Risk Mental States (CAARMS); and delivering evidence-based individual psychological therapy.

We are looking for a CBT therapist who is able to work positively and proactively with MDTs and with people who present to our services with psychosis. An interest in completing CBT for Psychosis or other advanced training would be an advantage. The Trust actively supports CPD, and you will be encouraged to develop your skills and areas of interest where they meet service needs. Most of our psychological therapists have completed further clinical training, including in CBTp, Family Interventions, Schema Therapy, CAT, DBT and EMDR.
