Dignity & Respect Liaison Officer
Location : Bath
Salary : Starting from £27,116, rising to £33,309
Our Client is seeking a skilled and hard-working professional to lead on all aspects of the Dignity & Respect procedure within the Student Policy & Safeguarding department, working closely with colleagues in Human Resources.
About the role:
You will play a crucial role in the implementation of the recently revised Dignity & Respect policy and procedure. In this role you will:
- Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Support & Report tool for the University
- Act as a single point of contact for a student reporting party and staff respondent throughout joint informal and formal Dignity & Respect cases.
- Liaise with students and HR to explore informal solutions to potential Dignity & Respect/complaint issues.
- Provide information on university processes and facilitate practical support, as well as acting as a channel for communications between the University and the student reporting party
- Developing and manage student casework administrative processes resulting from the University’s Dignity & Respect, Student Complaints, Fitness to Study, Fitness to Practise policies
About you:
To be considered for this position you will demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills where you are able to build trust, show empathy and sensitively manage multi-party, complex and challenging situations and find resolutions to conflict.You will have experience in customer service skills and be able to ensure that the different parties in difficult situations each receive an effective service.
Having qualifications or completion of training in the areas of mental health, trauma-informed investigation, sexual misconduct and suicide prevention will also be an advantage, but not essential. (Training can be provided here and you will need to be keento develop your skills in this area).
You will understand the importance of risk assessment and support planning in all areas of your work as well as have experience of collating and analysing qualitative and quantitative data and information to underpin your work.
You will need to be organised, self-motivated and able to balance the needs of the different aspects within this role. You will also have great written and verbal communication skills; a detailed understanding of student life and the HE context more broadly;and complete discretion and tact in the handling and management of sensitive information.
About them:
This role will sit within the new Student Policy and Safeguarding Department. There are four teams within this department:
- Policy and Projects
- Student Conduct
- Student Casework
- Student safeguarding
This role will be within the Student Casework team but reporting to the Head of Student Policy & Safeguarding and working closely with the Student Casework Manager and Student Conduct Manager. The role will be working closely with colleagues in HR.
The Student Policy & Safeguarding unit has brought together a number of related student experience functions into one permanent organisational unit, with the aim of improving effectiveness, efficiency and transparency including, supporting students throughStudent Discipline and Fitness to Study processes, preventing harassment on campus and promoting a safe, inclusive environment where students thrive.
This is a small and supportive department, driven by improving the experiences of all students at the University. Joining the team at this time gives an opportunity for the post holder to contribute to the developing culture and direction of this department.
This is a permanent position working 36.5 hours per week.
