We have two key lines of work and your work will play a key part in their success. We have a statutory role in the Planning Process. You would work with internal colleagues and Local Authority Planners to influence and promote sustainable, flood aware development.
Another key line of work is the delivery of our Capital programme. You may also provide advice on planning and permits that we issue, development and delivery of our overview strategic plans or analyse flood risk mapping and modelling data and information.
As responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This role is based in our York office however, we offer flexible hybrid working for a better work/life balance.
- The team- Partnerships & Strategic Overview support the whole lifecycle of our flood and coastal risk management assets. We use a wide range of skills to help us plan for the future. We work in partnership with communities and other organisations to better protect people and property from future flood risk.
- Experience/skills required- Through your experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:
- An understanding of the impact of flooding and experience of flood risk assessments

- GIS skills to utilise and manipulate spatial information
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
- Good organisational skills
- Strong communication and influencing ability
Excellent communication skills are a must as you’ll be working with a diverse range of people.
We welcome all backgrounds, preferably with an interest in planning, engineering, geography, environmental or a science discipline.
- Contact and additional information-
You’ll have access to our great benefits package, including generous annual leave, an excellent pension, flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to be part of a variety of staff networks. We also offer extensive training to develop your career.
