My client is a well established leader in their field, we are looking for a new trainee electrical designer to join the engineering team where external and on-the-job training will be provided. Ultimately, the trainee engineer will be expected to learn and develop to a point where they can confidently design and deliver special purpose machine electrical and control systems for both internal and external customers. This role reports directly to the lead electrical engineer. Key Responsibilities " Produce single line and schematic diagrams using Solidworks electrical " Maintain and create symbols for Solidworks electrical libraries " Provide electrical calculations where appropriate " Create and maintain documentation for project technical file " PLC program design, implementation and testing " Design functional safety systems " Create machine test documentation " Contribute to the content of user operation manuals " Electrical fault finding " Electrical safety testing " Provide technical assistance to OpTek's service engineering team " Liaise with shop-floor to ensure machines are built to appropriate Company standards " Assist in the commissioning of machines Skills and Competencies **Education/ experience**: " Relevant time-served experience within industry " Technical qualification in electrical engineering, e.g. ONC / HND / Degree **Skills**: " Concepts of electrical safety " Ability to navigate a set of electrical schematics " Electrical wiring and soldering " Electrical fault finding " 2D CAD experience " Understanding of servo dive systems " Experience of PLC control systems The person " Must be a team player who enjoys working within a multi-disciplined work environment " Able to prove their desire and passion for engineering and willingness to learn " Flexible in their approach to working to ensure that stakeholder relationships (internal or external) are maintained " Good communications skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels, verbally in writing and in a group setting
