Band 7 trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner up to 75 hours per week available
Cross Site Working is required
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x full time Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) to join our already established team of trainee and qualified ACP’s to work within the Emergency Department at the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital Whitehaven. We are looking for clinicians with commitment, flexibility, enthusiasm, excellent clinical skills, and who are keen to work as part of a hardworking and dedicated team.
They will demonstrate safe, critical decision-making in the clinical decision-making process and will work collaboratively with Consultants and multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure. They will work to ensure wherever possible that junior medical staff are enabled to meet their training and development requirements. Local requirements for advanced clinical practice must be met or worked towards.
Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners work at a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a master’s level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.
Advanced clinical practice embodies the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. It includes the analysis and synthesis of complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes.
Both sites operate a fully functional level 1 Emergency Department which consists of an area for minors/majors/paediatrics and resus. As part of this post you are expected under supervision to cover all these areas within the emergency department, contributing to the flow of emergency department patients and actively assessing, treating and either admitting/discharging or referring patient to appropriate area or speciality.
The role encompasses undertaking assessment of undifferentiated patients attending ED using a range of different assessment and management methods under the direct supervision of the ED consultants and senior clinicians. They will demonstrate safe, critical decision-making in the clinical decision-making process and will work collaboratively with emergency medicine Consultants/Senior clinicians and multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures relevant to the ED.
