**Job Description**:
To lead and support the delivery of high-quality dosimetry and radiological protection services across Sellafield and other UK nuclear sites.
As Deputy Head of the Approved Dosimetry Service, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, driving technical excellence, and managing key service contracts across the UK nuclear sector.
Dosimetry specialist reports to the Head of the ADS - the Corporate Lead - Radiological Protection.
Manages a small team of Advisors
Accountabilities and responsibilities:
Provide strategic and technical leadership for HSE approved dosimetry services at Sellafield.
Provide technical expertise in support of information for claims made under the Compensation Scheme for radiation linked Diseases for NDA and nuclear sites through expert analysis and reporting.
Analysis and interpretation of dosimetry statistics for all stakeholders and regulators as required.
Interpretation and implementation of key changes in technical basis and legislation relevant to HSE approved dosimetry provision.
Oversee IT asset management and maintenance contracts related to dosimetry systems.
Technical authority for commercial contracts with external suppliers and for TIER II contracts for provision of radiological service to other employers.
Represent Sellafield Ltd in national and international dosimetry forums and intercomparisons as company expert.
Dosimetry Subject Matter Expert for provision of training and briefing for Sellafield employees and contractors in dosimetry practices.
Hold team members accountable for adhering to commitments and performance of work according to applicable SL standards, procedures and arrangements.
Essential Skills:
Strong understanding of UK nuclear safety legislation and HSE requirements.
In-depth knowledge of dosimetry systems and radiological protection.
Proven experience in managing technical teams and service delivery.
Familiarity with contract management and stakeholder engagement.
Ability to travel and represent the company in UK-wide user groups and participate in UK and European intercomparisons.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in UK and European dosimetry intercomparisons.
Involvement in national user groups or technical committees.
Proven experience in using dosimetry models.
Background in developing/ delivering training and mentoring technical staff
