This is a fixed term post for 12 months due to maternity cover. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term full time Bank 3 Clerical Officer to work within the Emergency Department at Morriston Hospital. The position is for 12 months initially to cover maternity leave however there may be an opportunity this post could become substantive for the right person. This is a busy and challenging department, and the role encompasses all aspects of reception and administrative duties. Previous NHS experience would be advantageous, and you should have an understanding of the unscheduled care agenda. You will embrace the challenge of this busy role offers and be part of the drive to continually improve services for out patients and staff. The post holder is the first point of contact for patients. Work as a key member of the Emergency Care multidisciplinary team ensuring flexibility in the maintenance of a 24-hour service. Respect the confidentiality of all information regarding the patient. Be responsible for maintaining a safe and tidy working environment. Contribute towards an atmosphere that is conducive to good client relations, particularly with regard to inter-personal skills and communication. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures as Identified by SBU Health Board. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. These include (List is not exhaustive or exclusive, examples only): Access to Health records including release of patients notes to Police for patients attending court next day. Amending or updating A&E patient demographic information. Providing information to the Risk and Litigation Department. Department requests for information including access to CAS cards. General enquiries from patients and their relatives. Operate computer system(s) in place within the department. Attend the designated area to receive patients via the "Trauma team" Electronic scanning and retrieval of Emergency Care Record Cards following completion Nursing and Medical staff Quality checking of scanned cards Make follow-up appointments for patients, as required Produce computer generated General Practitioner letters and amend, reprint and send accordingly Produce clinic lists Prepare patient emergency care records for clinics. Search for medical case notes, electronically and arrange provision/collection Electronically track patient’s records via Computerised system. Answering and dealing with non-clinical telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, General Practitioners, wards and departments, healthcare professionals, and members of the public. Provide routine non clinical advice to patients as required. Complete workload targets in demanding conditions. General filing duties Ordering stationery for the Emergency Department. Participate with clerical duties in the event of a Major/Serious Incident. Plan and organise own workload, using analytical skills to resolving routine queries on their own initiative Use all equipment in an appropriate and competent manner, ensure defective equipment is removed from service and reported. Deal with defective equipment in appropriate manner. Have due regard for the Directorate budget by utilising stock and equipment in a cost effective manner. Maintain a safe and tidy working environment. To frequently liaise with nursing staff to record information on patients in Resus as required.
