**Location**: Eastleigh (Hybrid working environment, with a remote first approach)
Ageas in Eastleigh have an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Assistant Accountant. The key objective of the Assistant Accountant role is to prepare and deliver accurate and timely reporting to support the month end, quarter end and annual reportingprocesses. Stakeholders include the wider Finance team, senior Finance management, the UK business, the Audit Committee, the Board, HMRC, the PRA and the FCA.
**Main Responsibilities as an Assistant Accountant**:
Supporting the control and delivery of the monthly close process for the Ageas UK entities. This may include items such as: revenue and expenses month end closing processes, Group reporting, tax reporting, and various other areas of financial reporting andcontrol.
Ensuring that transactions are accurately recorded and that associated balance sheet entries are valid.
Preparation of first level financial information for various stakeholders within the UK group.
Supporting the wider FR&C team with ad hoc queries and projects.
The jobholder will be expected to manage their time and resources to ensure that allocated work is delivered on time and to the required quality. They will be required to use various accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools (including Excel and PowerPoint).
Whilst working on tasks the jobholder is expected to understand information provided, identify apparent inconsistencies and correct output or report on variances or inconsistencies as appropriate.
The jobholder will need to build and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders within the UK business, for example with other parts of Finance, and with Actuarial, Underwriting and Payroll, among other departments.
**Skills and experience you need as an Assistant Accountant:
**Part qualified accountant who is currently studying AAT, CIMA or ACCA
Good Excel skills
Experience using Oracle's E1 (general ledger) and IBM's Cognos TM1 (reporting tool)
Excellent attention to detail, and a core value set that is focused on delivering high quality outputs
Excellent numerical skills and the ability to understand, evaluate and interpret financial data, identifying and looking to resolve apparent inconsistencies
Strong organisational and planning skills and the ability to prioritise and timetable workflows
The ability to work independently, using initiative to follow through investigations logically
The ability to respect confidentiality and build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, managers and directors
The capacity to work flexibly around busy periods such as month-end and year-end reporting, to support business requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including timely and open communication and the ability to explain financial concepts to various stakeholders
Personal qualities of integrity and credibility
The ability to operate effectively in a matrix style of management and governance
