Summerhall is looking for enthusiastic bar and front of house staff to join our team. Summerhall is an arts and entertainment venue located in the Newington area of Edinburgh, with a large variety of spaces with bars and food outlets, including it’s own on-site pub. It's annual calendar of events is very wide ranging, consisting of gigs, private parties, theatre shows and cinema screenings, to name a few.

We are looking to add both front of house and bar staff, with positions available from 10 to 30 hours a week. Hours of work are generally between 10am and 1.30am, though some events will require a 4am finish.

Bar shifts are split between The Royal Dick pub and the various events bars, including the Dissection Room, PHD Bar, The Gallery Bar and the outdoor Courtyard Bar. Extensive cocktail knowledge is not required, but you need to be comfortable with and have experience working in a busy bar environment, and be willing to learn our range of Barney’s Beer and Pickering’s gin, both produced on site.

Front of House shifts consist of welcoming and greeting customers, ticket checking, assisting the public with general enquiries and liaising with the rest of the team to ensure smooth event delivery. There will also be some set up and take down shifts pre/post event to ensure venue spaces are ready to go. Our Front of House are the often the front point of contact with our guests so providing a high level of customer service is essential.

Though the majority of hours available are in the bars, it is expected that you will work both bar and front of house roles as the occasion demands. Weekend and evening availability is required.

The pay rate is £10.90 for general staff and £11.75 for supervisors, paid monthly. We offer staff a meal on shifts over 6 hours (dependent on kitchen availability), and 50% discount on food and 25% on drink when off shift. Partial uniform is provided. There is a £5 contribution to taxi/Uber trips home after a late shift.
