Senior Employment Advisor

**JOB SUMMARY**: The IAPT Employment Advisors programme is a 3 year £47.7m initiative to make sure that people get timely access to health support for common mental health problems and integrated employment support so that they avoid long-term unemployment. The principle aim of the IAPT Employment Advisor Initiative is to create a culture of prevention and early intervention, to make sure that people get timely access to health support and suitable employment support so that they avoid long term unemployment. The integrated Employment Advisor service promotes the link between being in work and achieving improved health outcomes. This role will involve working closely with Psychologists, CBT Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who provide psychological therapies to people with common mental health problems.

The post holders will support service users with common mental health problems to gain, return to or retain employment. The role will involve working directly with Jobcentre Plus, employers, trade unions and employment agencies to keep people in employment and secure employment opportunities. The post holders will manage and support a team of EAs in offering a support service to individuals with common mental health problems to gain, return to or retain employment. The post holder will retain a small caseload of clients in addition to their line management responsibilities.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**: Programme Governance; Leadership and management of the Employment Advisors in IAPT Initiative within the IAPT service and across a number of community sites. Ensuring the effective delivery of all work focused and non-work focused interventions by ensuring effective leadership and management of teams of Employment Advisers. Responsible for the implementation and management of the integration of a work retention service and a supported employment service in the Primary Care IAPT clinical team and other related community services. The Senior Employment Advisor will be accountable and responsible for the professionalism of the Employment Advisors, ensuring that they provide a personalised service to clients.

Leadership on providing individually tailored information, advice and guidance (IAG) to help and support the service users to access and secure suitable employment opportunities. To respond to unplanned requests for support from Employment Advisors as necessary.

To support therapists, GPs and other primary care workers in making appropriate referrals and in carrying out the employment aspects of their own roles. To develop and maintain the integration of mental health treatment and employment support by establishing effective liaison of IAPT employment support services and other health and social care services. Responsibility for coordinating and mainstreaming the services into existing voluntary and statutory employment services. Facilitate the provision of suitable resources within the IAPT service and across a number of community sites.

Integrate the project into the IAPT service and other community services so that it builds on the current service provision. Monitor and manage all employment data collection on the PC-MIS database to ensure it is relevant and can be used for KPI reports for key programme stakeholders Provide progress and final reports in line with programme milestones and present outcomes for all key stakeholders including NHS England, Havering (NELFT) CCG and Havering Talking Therapies (IAPT) Service. Liaise as appropriate with secondary care mental health services and social service departments. Build effective relationships with external employers to open up and secure work experience and paid employment opportunities for people who have experienced mental health problems.

Develop effective relationships with other organisations for example, Job Centre Plus, employment agencies, local colleges and training providers to improve the outcomes of the programme
