The Service
The Integrated Wellbeing Service is part of the Northumberland Public Health Team based within the Adult Social Care, Children's Service and Public Health and Communities directorate. The Integrated Wellbeing Service comprises 36 members of staff working withinHealth Improvement, Specialist Stop Smoking and Health Trainer teams who are responsible for delivering services and influencing parts of the system to improve the health of our residents in Northumberland.
We are seeking to recruit a Health Improvement Practitioner to assist in delivering against a 'financial health and wellbeing' targeted portfolio of public health work to support the health improvement offer to local communities.
A key role of the post will be to build financial health and wellbeing capacity in Northumberland aligned to our public health priorities and in collaboration with key partners.
The post will
- Contribute to, and advise on, the development and implementation of local community health improvement programmes, with a focus on financial wellbeing and health
- Liaise with key partners and existing networks and systems to coordinate a programme of targeted training linked to local population health outcomes for Northumberland
- Build capacity around financial wellbeing and health across identified sectors and settings
- Develop and facilitate a Northumberland specific 'Making Every Contact Count (MECC) for Financial Wellbeing' Train the Trainer course, via the Integrated Wellbeing Service training programme
- Support partners to adapt and further cascade the training and raise awareness of financial wellbeing; utilising the MECC approach to financial wellbeing as appropriate to partner needs
- Ensure alignment to the Northumberland Inequalities Plan; 'Poverty and Hardship: Food, Fuel, C&YP, Access to advice and information and building resilience'
- Support organisations and workplaces to embed financial wellbeing as part of 'Better Health at Work'
- Facilitate team working within the IWS to highlight the importance of financial wellbeing alongside interlinking public health priorities e.g. money and managing mental health, cooking on a budget, keeping warm and well in winter
- Develop and deliver public health campaign resources to encourage the normalising of conversations about money, sharing Northumberland specific signposting and support
- Work closely with the IWS team to ensure financial wellbeing is embedded across whole service provision, e.g. Health Trainer Service, Stop Smoking Service.
- Ensure methods of monitoring, evaluating and reporting are embedded within this area of work.
