Do you have personal experience of living with mental health challenges?
Do you want to use this experience to help others?
Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust are expanding their peer support service.
Peer support is when people use their own lived experiences to support others who are having similar experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with personal experience of living with mental health challenges to share this experience and support others.
We are looking for 'Service User Peer Support Workers' to work within our Mental Health Recovery Pathway which incorporates both inpatient rehabilitation and community recovery and rehabilitation.
Service User Peer Support Workers must have experience of living with mental distress and are managing their own recovery and wellbeing well. The aim of the role is to support other individuals experiencing mental distress.
The role is to compliment the support given by healthcare professionals to inspire hope and empower people to reach their own individual recovery goals and make sense of their personal recovery journey.
You will need to be able to travel independently around the county and travel costs will be reimbursed.
Our experience is that the people most likely to be invited to interview are those who refer to the points on the person specification in their supporting statement.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
Please also confirm on your supporting statement that you have your own experience of mental ill health and describe how you manage your wellbeing now.
