We're thrilled to have an exciting opportunity for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-Ordinator to join our SEND team at HIT. **About the SENDCO role**

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

- Implement the SEND strategy, policy, and associated processes.
- Complete assessments of learners with SEND to identify needs and monitor their progress.
- Collaborate with Training team members, the Quality team, the leadership team, employers, and external agencies to develop, implement, and monitor personalized support plans.
- Arrange external referrals if specialised support is required.
- Deliver training to Quality and Training staff, helping them enhance their teaching skills and behaviour strategies.
- Work closely with the Safeguarding Lead to ensure learners receive the right support in both their work and personal lives and during their training.
- Create resources to support learners with SEND and provide guidance to Training team members on their effective use.
- Conduct assessments for Exam Access Arrangements.

**About you**

To thrive in this Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator role, we're looking for someone with the following qualifications and experience:

- Demonstrable experience in a SENDCO role, preferably in a Further Education establishment or at minimum in a Secondary School.
- National Award for SEND Coordination.
- Current SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate.
- AAA - Assessing for Access Arrangements
- L2 qualification in maths and English (ideally gained after the Functional Skills reforms).
- Knowledge of apprenticeships.
- A proven commitment to achieving high levels of progress, achievement, and self-esteem for all learners with SEND.
- Ideally, familiarity with the Functional Skills reforms.
- Ideally, experience of working with or alongside Independent Training Providers.
