Vacancy at Conquest Hospital - Full and part time hours considered.
The laboratory is split across the two sites. East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) Cellular Pathology Department is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Histopathologist to join their friendly, efficient team on a 10 Programmed Activity per week basis. A histopathologist with specialist gynaecological skills and supporting governance would be particularly advantageous to our department.
The laboratory is UKAS accredited, with state of the art equipment, dealing with over 29000 surgical cases and 2000 non-gynae cytology specimens per year. Consultant workload is allocated using a Warwick workload allocation system. An established double reporting system for cancer cases is in place to enhance quality assurance. The case mix is that normally seen in a district general hospital, with consultants taking an integral role in cancer MDTs. The key cancer sites are breast, colorectal, urological, haematological and skin cancer. The department provides a coronial post mortem service and participation in this would be welcomed, although not compulsory.
Applicants are required to be registered medical practitioners. In addition, you will hold MRCPath/FRCPath or an equivalent level qualification.
