**Works Manager** required for our steel processing client based in Dudley. Reporting to the Senior Production Manager you will be required to ensure smooth and efficient running of profile and despatch operations. Co-ordinate with sales andthe order book to comply with delivery schedules and schedule production across 3 shift patterns.
We are looking for a Works manager with good people management skills to manage and co-ordinate, including the planning and delegation of tasks within the department and to monitor performance levels.
Lead by example in all aspects of a professional working environment and for health and safety and Identify skills gaps and develop team members where appropriate.
You will also ensure all members of the team are adequately trained, equipped and motivated. Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrix
**Daily tasks & duties will include**
- Implementation and execution of the daily production.
- Identify operational issues and production bottlenecks and works on/implements solutions.
- Ensure maintenance and clean downs are kept to schedule.
- Liaise with and report machine faults and solutions to equipment OEM service engineers resulting in a time efficient service or breakdown repair.
- Develop and maintain Skills Matrix and act accordingly on updating training needs to meet with company legal requirements.
- Collect production data customer feedback and use it to improve identified KPI’s.
- Collect production data and create reports as required.
- Attend relevant meetings with Transport Manager & Managing Director.
- Liaise with Shift Supervisors and Production Managers to ensure that operations in all areas are managed in line with agreed expectations and that production based documentation is completed correctly.
- Ensure that production based paperwork is completed fully in accordance with ISO systems.
- Booking in of raw materials and control/certification of materials is critical to production operations.
- Ensure the companies Health & safety policies are adhered to.
- Lead 5s and continuous improvement activities.

**Skills & Experience required.**
- Works in a team environment. Blends people into teams when needed, creates strong morale and spirit in their team, shares wins and successes, foster open dialogue, lets people finish and be responsible for their work, defines success in terms of the wholeteam, creates a feeling of belonging in the team
- A good knowledge and understanding of steel process or cutting background. Ideally from a laser cutting or press operations back ground.
- Must have Man Managerial background across multiple shift patterns.
- Must be able to communicate, current, direct, complete and actionable positive and corrective feedback to others.
- Be health & safety aware.
- IT literate with proactive approach to work; with an upbeat personality. The ability to maintain that can-do attitude even when under pressure of a strong order book.

**Working Hours**: 6am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday
**Salary guide**: £32k - £37k
