**Our client** has an exciting opportunity to join their team as an **Environmental and Sustainability Manager**. You will join on a **full-time, permanent basis**, and will be based at**Kent and Canterbury HospitalinCanterbury.** In return, you will receive a competitive salary of **£45,000per annum.**

**About the role**:
The **Environmental and Sustainability Manager **is an integral part of the team. This position offers a great opportunity to lead with an overall responsibility to develop and embed sustainability principles within East KentHospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) and work 2gether Towards Zero.

**Your responsibilities as their Environmental and Sustainability Manager will include**:
- Providing a high quality, customer focused and efficient delivery of environmental and sustainability services ensuring that these meet statutory and contractual requirements
- Brand the environmental & sustainability image of EKHUFT and communicate effectively
- Reviewing and setting environmental targets and objectives for each site within the portfolio
- Setting, monitoring and reporting performance against targets
- Reviewing and appraising each site's energy and water consumption that is monitored
- Cascade sustainability requirements to the supply chain
- Developing and establishing Trust-wide policies and initiatives for carbon management and related environmental improvements whilst ensuring all risks are fully assessed in order to develop savings and cost efficiencies across the Trust
- Establishing targets, detecting and investigating consumption or cost exceptions to increase efficiency and minimise carbon wastage
**What they are looking for in their ideal Environmental and Sustainability Manager**:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or Environmental Management or Sustainability Communications
- Experience of implementing and managing ISO 14001 or similar
- A minimum of 3+ years experience in sustainable working practices, environmental and energy management within a large organisation
- Well versed in policy writing and able to train this information to colleagues
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to be able to get people on board and share your information messages, which will include presentation skills
- Ability to influence and engage with and train staff at all levels within an organisation
- Data gathering and reporting using Excel Report writing Influencing skills
- Extensive experience of leading and driving sustainability within a large organisation
- A minimum of 3+ years working within the sustainability sector
- Experience of working collaboratively and influencing without directly managing
- Researching relevant sustainability journals, conferences and practices to enable you to be a leader
- Experience of implementing environmental management systems
