**Overview**:
As an apprentice Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll progress through a series of placements in different parts of the ombudsman service.
Day to day you’ll help the team that you’re placed in to deliver their part of the process to a high standard, giving you the exposure you need to build your professional skillset as you go - including industry-standard technology such as SQL Server, SAPData Services, Power BI and R / Python.
In addition, as you move between teams, you’ll play a key role in helping us to continue to strengthen and streamline the links between teams and improve the overall flow of data through the service.
You’re accountable for our customers - our people - our reach - our impact and our service.
**Salary**:£21,111 per annum.
**Main responsibilities**:
- Progressing in your use of key technical tools and the accompanying ‘soft’ skills around stakeholder management and communication
- Working to a high degree of quality and accuracy - notifying team members as appropriate of any unexpected issues you encounter
- Maintaining standards and documentation with any completed development work, and ensuring that anything you deliver while in the team is handed over effectively before you move on
- Ensuring you are clear on what is expected of you and delivering against agreed objectives in each placement
- Making sure that you always handle our data appropriately and responsibly including privacy, quality, retention and only using it for appropriate purposes
suggesting ways, we can improve, and helping us to implement them if asked
- Other ad-hoc tasks as needed
**Desirable skills and Personal qualities:**
- Working as part of a team and helping achieve team goals
- Ideally some experience of working with data
- Great communication skills, verbally and in writing - you’ll be able to explain your ideas persuasively and in plain English

- Delivering a fair and efficient service, that reflects the diversity of our customers
- A genuine interest in starting or developing a career in Cyber Security
**Entry requirements**:
- An A-Level in ICT
- OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
- OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)
