**Anti-social Behaviour & Community Safety Officer**:
**Benefits and Allowances**:
**Role Purpose**:
From the City Fringe, through to the heart of the East End to the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf, Tower Hamlets is a uniquely vibrant, diverse and contrasting part of the capital - a melting pot of creativity, enterprise and cultural life that brings the best of London together in one place. Tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) is one of the biggest challenges facing Tower Hamlets with residents telling us that crime and ASB are among their biggest concerns.

This role involves putting victims at the heart of what you do and making a commitment to improving people’s lives. It will require a creative, persistent, and tenacious response to tackling anti-social behaviour by working in a multi-agency approach, linking the best use of skills, tools and knowledge for a particular problem.

The main purpose of the role will be to:

- Manage a caseload of antisocial behaviour (ASB) reports and other community safety issues that adversely affect the community within a locality based delivery approach.
- Lead problem solving initiatives in the borough to resolve issues and work effectively with other agencies or teams to achieve the best resolutions possible.
- Identify and establish, or, if already existing, maintain and improve effective partnerships with a range of teams and agencies both inside and outside the council. This is in order to support the most effective resolution of ASB and Community Safety issues.
- Be a single point of contact on locality based antisocial behaviour issues for RSLs and other agencies in the area.

Prepare or contribute to the preparation of the formal responses to Mayor’s, Elected Member’s and the public’s complaints and enquiries in relation to community safety matters, ensuring there is a focus on excellent customer service

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage a caseload that will include the broad range of antisocial behaviour and other related Community Safety issues.
- Manage cases in line with a locality based delivery approach to working. Whilst retaining an overall borough wide remit, also be responsible as the lead officer(s) and key point of contact for partners, for a defined geographical area in the borough.
- Undertake investigations taking a broad view of each case. Examine all aspects of cases and seek out and make use of best available information from council and other sources.
- Undertake individual investigations and wider community safety initiatives using an effective and coherent problem-solving approach.
- Take effective initial action for each case and consider the impact upon the victim or complainant by utilising a Harm Centred Approach in all cases making use of standard Harm/Risk Impact assessment tools. Make accountable decisions as to the priority to attach to cases.

**Requirements**:
Please note that this vacancy requires a DBS, (Children and Adults Barred list) which is satisfactory to Tower Hamlets Council)

**Application Details**:
This post is open to the following types of applicants: Internal/ External/ Agency

If this role is available to Internal employees only, this will include agency workers but does not include independent contractors or Skills Match trainees

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.

Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.

We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
