Responsibilities
- To carry out a range of reception and administrative tasks on a day to day basis
- Assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate services or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
- Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Responsibilities
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
- Acknowledge a patients arrival at the reception.
- Ensuring that the appointment system is run efficiently.
- Monitor the flow of patients to and from consulting rooms.
- Use clinical system Systmone for all patient related activities.
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Participate on a daily basis in task management and ensure that tasks are kept up-to-date at all times.
- Sorting the mail, scan letters, file records.
- Workflow - deal with incoming letters, discharge summaries, results etc.

**Essential**: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent team working skills

Excellent keyboard and computer skills

Ability to work without direct supervisions and determine own

workload priorities

Ability to show initiative and self-motivated

Good general education (literacy and numeracy)

Organised with attention to detail

Able to demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality

Commitment to professional development

**Desirable**: Experience in dealing with the public

General understanding of the NHS

Previous experience of working in the NHS desired

Hours: 13.5 per week plus holiday and sickness cover is essential

Contracted hours will be:
Monday 8am - 12pm

Friday 8am - 12.30pm, 1pm - 6pm.
