This job is for a Locum for Service Core Trainee post in Older Adult Psychiatry, working with patients experiencing severe and enduring mental illness or organic brain disease such as dementia. The post holder will spend up to four months in post under the clinical supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist. They will work with a fully staffed multidisciplinary team with both the Dementia Intensive Support Service and Older Adults Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Service.

The post holder will be expected to support the Consultant by providing a range of clinical duties including:

- Medical reviews of patients referred to the team.
- Attend MDT discussions and support staff
- Maintenance of comprehensive records
- Correspondent with primary care service including writing discharge letters
- Attendance at relevant community meetings and team events
- Attendance at staff support, supervision and reflective practice meetings

He/she will have regular supervision with a Consultant Psychiatrist, and will comply with the statutory requirements for annual appraisal, drawing up personal development plans and revalidation as set out by the General Medical Council and the Trust.

The post holder may be able to participate in the out of hours on-call duties.

The post holder will be expected to support the Trust’s Clinical Governance Framework for monitoring and improving standards of care through taking part in activities for improving quality, identifying and managing risks within the service, as well as maintaining his or her own continuing professional development.
