The Merchant Hotel - Kitchen Porter

The 5* Merchant Hotel in Belfast is a harmonious blend of Victorian grandeur and Art Deco inspired sleek modernity. Situated in the heart of Belfast city centre's historic Cathedral Quarter, the grandeur of the original Grade A listed building is complemented by an elegant Art Deco inspired wing with a multitude of exciting amenities.

**The Merchant Hotel are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Porter**

Responsible to: HEAD CHEF / SOUS CHEF / CHEF DE PARTIE/HEAD KITCHEN PORTER.

Purpose of job: To ensure that all equipment, crockery, cutlery and glassware is washed and stored correctly and to ensure that the wash-up/kitchen area is maintained in a hygienic manner.

Rate of pay is £11.44 per hour for all staff

**Main duties**:

- To ensure all items of crockery, cutlery glassware are washed properly, dried and stored correctly
- Cleaning of pots, pans equipment and their storage
- To carry out cleaning duties as outlined on standard procedures
- To maintain cleanliness of refuse area and ensure kitchen bins regularly emptied
- To be aware of hazardous substances and to ensure that relative protective clothing is worn and directions followed
- To adhere to any reasonable request from management or chefs
- To participate in any training and personnel exercises designed to improve standards and performance
- Wear clean suitable uniform at all times and ensure a high level of personal hygiene grooming
- Observe all requirements under Health Safety regulations
- To upkeep the company’s equal opportunities policy to ensure a neutral working environment
- To keep staff/work areas tidy, safe report any hazard, accident or loss or damage to management and observe all requirements under current health safety regulations

**The successful applicant must be fully flexible to include evening and weekends.**
