- This role is based remotely, with the long-term requirement to work flexibly from one of our Head Offices when required (we have offices based in Southampton, Yeovil and Paddington).

As a Tech Lead for our Digital team, you’ll be helping us to deliver large-scale change projects that keep us one step ahead of the competition and lead the way for the Kingfisher Group. Part of the team at the forefront of the business change programme, you’ll work collaboratively with project managers and business analysts to support the engineering and testing teams by defining the technical solutions needed to implement key business priorities.
**Responsibilities**:
- Be able to make pragmatic decisions to define an architecture that is capable of practical and efficient implementation
- Work closely with the engineering teams and use experience to unblock and solve complex architecture and design issues
- Produce coherent direction to the engineering teams on the implementation of new systems
- Assist in implementing appropriate governance rules to ensure the appropriate use of systems
- Ensure competence in the specialism is sustained and developed, by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the latest technologies and understanding any risks or issues associated with them
- Assist in determining infrastructure designs and providing the cost/benefits to support them
- Challenge and drive forwards our design discussions to produce tangible system designs for implementation
- Review projects and work, taking findings from them in order to champion and educate, coach and mentor peers and colleagues
- Assist in the delivery of the new solutions into live operations
Qualifications:
- Deliver solutions using Agile methods (scrum, XP, etc.).
- Utilise Test Driven Development and code refactoring, with awareness of the principles of crafting ‘clean code’
- Extensive experience of developing and delivering software for commercial organisations
- Experience with Automation tools, e.g. Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, etc.Web-based presentation using HTML, JSP, CSS, Javascript and AJAX. MVC frameworks such as Struts, Spring, JSF etc, and web services, both RESTful & SOAP, JSON/XML parsing, binding & transformation
- Use of Java development IDEs such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, etc.
- Experience of using automated unit testing tools such as JUnit, JMock, Karma, etc.
- Awareness of Object Relational Mapping technologies such as Hibernate, EJB
- Experience in using source control tools, such as Git, Subversion, Mercurial, etc, software build tools, such as Maven, BuildR, Ant, Gradle etc and working in *nix environments, including basic Scripting and file editing
- Good awareness of design patterns and their applicability in given situations
