**Role Specification**:

- To organise social activities, both on site and external to the home for people who need care and support
- To support individuals to take part in organised activities as part of their ongoing care and support
- To provide and maintain a high standard of individualised care and comfort allowing the quality of life of the Service Users to be maximised in a caring, supportive and friendly environment.
- To work closely as a team member with other members of staff on duty.

**Principal Duties**:
You will be expected to;
- Talk with people about the types of activities they’d like to do
- Keep accurate records of likes and dislikes for activity provision
- Organise activities that are tailored to the needs and abilities of individuals, as well as group activities that will bring individuals together
- Coordinate and book external suppliers to provide entertainment/ other associated activities
- Organise trips out in the local community, considering transport arrangements and accessibility, whether that be 1-1 or group sessions
- Assist people to take part in activities.
- Maintain a high standard of care and comfort for the Service Users in the Home, with the help of other designations of staff, in line with their individual care plans.
- Maintain good hygiene standards at all times, as per the Homes policy and procedures
- Report any concerns, worries or ill health of Service Users to the person in charge.
- Provide a sense of well being and maximise quality of life.
- Respect Service Users wishes and involve Service Users in their care, allowing them to make choices. Do not always make decisions for them without their knowledge or agreement and involve them closely with their care.
- Offer any suggestions to the Manager which may improve the service given or efficiency of the Home.
- Maintain good relationships with relatives and be courteous to all visitors by making them feel welcome in the Home.
- Do not undertake any duty of which you are unsure or have not had prior permission or instructions from the person in charge or outside agencies.
- Report any health and safety or security standards which fail to be met to the Manager and be aware of the Homes health and safety and security standards set out in the Homes policies and procedures.
- Maintain good levels of communication between all other staff members and Service Users. If required to do so, answer telephone calls and deal with visitors in a polite and courteous manner.
- Be aware of all the policies and procedures within the Home and ask if unsure.
- Clean equipment and possessions of involved with activities
- Ensure safe and correct usage and storage of all cleaning and washing materials, and be fully aware of COSHH regulations.
- Participate in Key Worker system in the home.
- Be willing to participate in the training policy of the Home, and attend staff meetings as required.
- Attend courses that are beneficial to the high standards of the Home.
- Adhere to the moving and handling policy and procedure of the Home.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure that the name and integrity of the Home is not brought into disrepute.
- Ensure that all the Homes philosophies are adhered to.
- Be fully aware of your terms and conditions of employment.
- Observe the Homes policy and procedure involving Abuse, carry out if necessary the act of whistle blowing.
- Maintain knowledge for handling and storing food products. Observe dates and disposure and understand the danger of food poisoning.
- Always wear protective clothing provided. If and when, dealing with personal body fluids of a Service User, handling food, using chemicals, and carrying out tasks that require your safety.
- Assist other staff members with tasks if they require your help, e.g. cooks, domestic housekeeper.
- Be aware in case of fire, participate in following the Homes fire Policy and Procedure. Attend regular fire training.
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Manager
