Antenatal & Newborn Screening Specialist Midwife
4 days ago
**Job overview**:
As the Antenatal & Newborn Screening Specialist Midwife you will monitor and run the ANNB screening programmes in line with national standards and service specifications.
You will need to be naturally responsive to the changing demands on your priorities and workloads, and manage your own diary efficiently. The post holder will need to be confident enough to instigate and drive local change to meet the expectations and standards set by the national programmes.
The role will be cross-site to cover both The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. You will need to be willing to travel flexibly to both sites and to outside events/meetings as and when necessary.
**Our commitment to you**
You will have the full support and guidance of the senior management team in all aspects of your role, and a comprehensive induction/handover will be provided. You will be included in all key meetings (both internal and regional), and for your continuing professional development will be encouraged to attend training/information/update events run by NHS England and other relevant parties.
**Main duties of the job**:
In order to fulfil the needs of this role you will need to be caring and empathic, but also tenacious and resilient. Communication is key - so promoting good relationships with your colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team should come naturally to you.
Your role will involve counselling women about antenatal and newborn screen positive results, so you should have some experience in communicating complex information and breaking bad news when unexpected results arise.
Part of your role will involve the on-going training and education of colleagues, so an ability to present and talk publicly would be beneficial.
If you are keen to develop your career, and feel this describes your experience and abilities, we would be delighted to hear from you
**Working for our organisation**:
The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. We believe in our power and potential to **make a difference** and we’re always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - **care**, **appreciate** and **inspire** - to join our team.
In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including, a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.
**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:

**Oldham Care Organisation**

The site also includes a dedicated Women’s and Childrens unit, offering one of only three Tertiary maternity units in the area. It is also home to the Alliance’s state of the art pathology lab providing a range of pathology services across the region.
Recently the Royal Oldham has received encouraging feedback from the CQC recognising various improvements and the dedication of the teams in their commitment to providing exceptional care.
