A leading civil engineering and utility contractor have an opportunity for a Design and Engineering Manager to to work on their Thames Water Based Contracts (London and Home Counties).

The Design and Engineering Manager will support the Contract Director and Operations Manager as well as a team of Project Managers and Regional Delivery Managers. You will support them in the safe and efficient delivery of our programme of Major Projects,Trunk Main Leakage and Minor Capital Works schemes. The Design and Engineering Manager will oversee design for circa 30 Major Projects per year, as well as around 2000 jobs in the company's Minor Capital Works and Trunk Main Leakage Projects.

In this role, there will be opportunity to work in a flexible way. This could mean splitting your time, based on business need between site, the office and home. Your contract location will remain as your place of work. Flexibility and hybrid working ismanaged on a case-by-case basis so please don’t be afraid to ask in your interview about the flexibility on offer.

The Role

The role of the Design and Engineering Manager comes with wide range of responsibilities including:

- Taking on Principal Designer duties.
- Ensuring CDM is being implemented effectively at all stages of all projects.
- You will take on Temporary Works Co-ordination duties. As well as taking on all Design Co-ordination activities.
- You will be responsible for the management of their Design Consultants.
- You will act as our point of contact for all design related decisions and queries.

Experience/Qualifications required
- We are looking for an experienced Engineer, who can work as part of a team delivering complex engineering solutions in the water industry.
- Whilst you’ll be working as part of a team of construction and Project Managers, you’ll be the person who needs to assure our processes and designs to ensure that we are both compliant and safe.
- You will have significant design experience.
- You will have detailed knowledge of working in the Water Industry (Desirable)
- You will also have Temporary Works Co-ordination experience
- Hold a NEBOSH or similar qualification.
