**Senior Practitioner - SW (Adults)**:
**About Tower Hamlets - The Best of London in one borough**
Tower Hamlets is one of the UK's most culturally vibrant and diverse areas, at the heart of London's East End. Our vision is that local communities will be independent, strong, and vibrant.
We want you to be part of the future that we are creating, and to help us make a difference. We have an exciting opportunity within the Safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) team for a practice manager for DoLS role (senior practitioner equivalent role).
We are proud of our values because they demonstrate how we work and interact with customers, partners, and colleagues on a day-to-day basis.
We have five core values:
- ** Together** - We work TOGETHER across boundaries and with partners to achieve the best outcomes for Tower Hamlets
- ** Open** and honest - We are OPEN and transparent,
- ** Willing** - We are WILLING to challenge, innovate and be accountable,
- ** Excellence** - We empower each other to be EXCELLENT and go the extra mile,
- ** Respect** - We RESPECT all communities; they are the heart of everything we do.
**ABOUT YOU**
As a practice manager, who is also an experienced qualified and registered Best Interest Assessor (BIA), you will have experience of supervising BIA staff and developing the deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS) work by planning to reduce delays, achieving cost reductions, and maximising the safeguarding potential of our deprivation of liberty services. In addition, you will be confident and experienced at working with complex adult safeguarding issues, including MCA / DoLS and ability to problem-solve.
Your role will include providing information and advice, overseeing practice including quality assuring and auditing of assessments, enabling best practice by giving productive feedback to staff, mental health assessors, advocates, and relevant others. You will work in partnership with the advocacy service, commissioning team, DoLS signatory, mental health doctors and other social work teams.
Furthermore, you will have knowledge of Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) and be part of future implementation work. You will have the experience of devising, planning, and delivering training to a range of people at different levels.
You will support the Team Manager in ensuring the operational effectiveness of the team, allocating and prioritising workloads, supervising the correct recording and throughput of cases and taking responsibility for ensuring all cases are safely managed. You will also be confident in court of protection work and give advice as necessary.
You will be committed to leading a team that delivers a strength-based model of practice that empowers adults with care and support needs. You will share our values and vision for increasing independence, wellbeing and for collaborative working with our internal and external partners.
**Application Details**
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
