**The Role of Assistant First Team Coach**
**Main Accountabilities**
- Work with the first team coaching staff to help plan on pitch team training sessions for the first team players, mainly focusing on player development within those team sessions.
- Plan and execute additional training sessions (including pre and post team training) for small groups or for individual players (as required) to continue to develop those players and to complement the team training.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying key development areas of the players, raising awareness of those development areas with the first team coaching staff, and ensuring that plans are in place to actively improve the players on a daily basis.
- Ensure that all players have up-to-date Individual Development Plans in place which have been developed in conjunction with those players, and either actively work on those plans or take accountability to ensure that another of the first team coaching staff is doing likewise.
- Work with the performance and medical staff to ensure that all training is planned and executed with the player’s physical development and wellbeing in mind.
- Ensure that all players who aren’t getting regular game time in the first team are getting sufficient physical inputs in either training, or in alternative matches, so that they are ready and robust for first team matches when required.
- Liaise with the Technical Director to identify the high-potential young players at the Club, and help to integrate them into first team training as needed.
- Attend B team / U21 matches as required, and liaise with the B Team staff to ensure that high potential players are utilised in matches appropriately in accordance with their development plans and individual needs.
- Arrange regular meetings with players to build strong personal relationships, review their development and video from matches and training in accordance with their development needs.
- Work with the Player Welfare department to ensure that the players, and in particular new players (whether new signings that require integration into the Club, or players promoted to the first team squad from the B team) are looked after and developed in all aspects away from the pitch.
- Assess recruitment targets in accordance with Club recruitment processes for high potential players.
- Ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

**Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics**
