The Project Delivery function tracks and delivers some of the most complex and exciting projects in UK defence, offering fantastic variety with the support to shape and grow your career. Estimating is a vital part of what we do, ensuring the delivery of significant projects to our customers, on budget and on time.

You will act as estimating or cost modelling lead for medium to higher value or complexity projects, supporting business case development and investment decisions, options appraisal, and contribute to regular reviews of programme costs. You will also act as an Estimating Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing guidance to projects and support services.

This post is predominantly focused on ship platforms but working for DE&S will provide the opportunity to be involved in projects across a variety of other areas supporting programmes that include next generation aircraft, combat and support vehicles, complex weapons, artillery systems, ships, digital, cyber and space.

Your day-to-day role will involve a wide variety of tasks including reviewing and producing Estimating verification and validations and internal/industry modelling. You will build, review, and populate cost models as well as data maturity undertaking cost risk/business analysis. As part of this role, you may be responsible for leading a small team.

We have an option to either work at our Portsmouth, Rosyth or Glasgow site, all historic naval establishments with a strong heritage in supporting the Royal Navy, making them fantastic places to work. You will be expected to attend the site more frequently initially to familiarize yourselves to the site, the team and position you will be working on in more detail. We operate a hybrid working environment and the expectation will then be to attend site around twice a week (this can be dependent on team you are allocated to).
