**Derwent Lodge Nursing Home** is looking for a **Domestic**/**Housekeeping Assistant w**ho is flexible and can work 5 days over 7 days and this includes weekends on a rota basis.

**House Keeping Assistant Specification**:
1.1 Cleans and maintains assigned areas of the Home in accordance with established schedules, routines and standards, ensuring that at all times appropriate Health and Safety standards are met, and hazard signs displayed. Assists Care Assistants with bedmaking as directed and as required.

1.2 Performs minor routine maintenance to small items of cleaning and laundry equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and schedules.

1.3 Reports any problems, defects or malfunctions to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

1.4 Monitors supplies of consumables, replenishes where necessary and advises Supervisor when stocks are deteriorating.

1.5 Responds positively and efficiently to requests for immediate assistance for cleaning operations throughout the Home.

1.6 Ensures that adequate supplies of domestic consumables are available in general areas, e.g. toilet rolls, soap, paper towels etc

1.7 Undertakes laundry and ironing operations as directed, ensuring that all bed linen etc is washed at appropriate temperatures in accordance with the established standards.

1.8 Processes fouled laundry in accordance with Infection Control policies.

1.9 Collects laundry and replenishes supplies in Residents’ rooms as necessary.

**Work Experience**:

- Completed secondary education within the normal timeframes
- One year’s work experience in a Care Home
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of cleaning and laundry equipment
- Able to work outside of normal established shift pattern when required, and at short notice
- Wiling, helpful and enjoys working in the area of elderly care, and able to identify and report problems to care staff when needed, in a confidential manner
