Job Title: Claims Adjuster Italian speaking
Location: The City of London (Hybrid, 2 days from home and 3 from the office).
**Salary**: up to £50.000 depending on experience
Contract: Full-time (9AM to 5PM); Maternity cover 12 months
Our client is an established London syndicate underwriting international casualty and cargo business in more than 80 countries around the world. Joining the Medical Malpractice team, you will report to the Department Claims Manager, providing full claimshandling activities in respect of all claims emanating from the Medical Malpractice Underwriting portfolio. This book of business includes Italian medmal, including both open market and binders, Italian clinical trials and also some limited International medicalmalpractice claims (i.e. Australia). Also, some claims from the Liability portfolio.
**Main areas of responsibility**
- Review and analysis of claims when first presented to the Syndicate and/or Insurance Company
- Consider coverage for claim and take decision on coverage including referral to senior management where appropriate
- Where coverage, consider all aspects of the claim including liability and likely quantum, appoint adjusters, lawyers or other service providers from approved panel as appropriate and report internally on new claim where appropriate
- Set appropriate reserve at the earliest possible juncture
- Manage claim through its life to settlement on most favourable terms or, where appropriate, trial or other formal dispute resolution process
- Keep senior management abreast of all development on significant claims and refer all claims in accordance with referral criteria
- Assist the Underwriters where required including underwriting audits and policy wording
- Instruct TPAs and Audit TPAs and lawyers on an quarterly basis and report the results to the actuarial department
- Agree claims payments
- Manage insured’s complaints
- Review ECF logs daily and keep up to date with reviewing and releasing daily ECF entries and sequences to ensure providing a timely service to our brokers and insureds as well as complying with the Lloyd’s minimum standards
- Keep full and proper records in EFS and Synergy, as provided for in detail in the LMD claims manual
- Review weekly the weekly GBP50k+ movement report and identify all your own entries, ensuring they are accurate
- Issue Large Loss Notification as required in accordance with the claims manual in a timely fashion
**Key Requirements**:
- Degree in Law, Politics or Economics gained in Italy or UK
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Strong analytical, and decision making ability
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Extensive knowledge of wordings and key claims issues likely to arise in this business segment
- A team player who is able to work in a co-operative environment, and engages effectively with others
- Strong IT skills
- Communicates well both written and verbally both in English and Italian
**Technical expertise**
- Possessing good analytical skills
- Has a degree in Italian Law (or UK Law)
- Understanding of the legal, financial and regulatory issues which affect the line of business.
- Has the ability to negotiate to a mutually successful outcome
