Aspire as part of the Glasgow Alliance is committed to the prevention and solution to ending homelessness. We are currently looking for Support Workers to work within our dynamic Outreach Support Service as part of a mixed gender support team.
As a worker in this service, you could be supporting people in the community, their own home or in an accommodation-based setting who have mental health issues, addictions, and tenancy sustainment needs, offering housing and practical and emotional support. The support will be in response to needs documented in each person’s developmental support plan and I will be provided in a way that equips people with the confidence and skills to live independent and sustainable lives wherever they are residing.
**You will also**:
- Devise, review and update developmental support plans with the supported individual, recording events and observations and keeping appropriate records.
- Support and contribute to the resourcing of interventions for people we support in crisis situations, and/or manage physical risk or behaviour likely to cause incidents, in accordance with the individuals personal developmental support plan, risk management plan or service protocol.
- As a Key Worker, attend and contribute to individual’s Support Reviews with partnership agencies.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships and good communication links with individuals, families/carers, recovery communities, service partners, funders and other stakeholders.
- Empower individuals to live as independently as possible within their current living circumstances.

**Experience, knowledge, and skills required for this role include**:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with a wide range of individuals and groups.
- An ability to follow agreed action plans and to problem solve
- An understanding of the impact of alcohol or drug misuse on individuals, families and communities.
- An understanding of the impact of homelessness on individuals.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient IT skills.
- If you do not have a SVQ 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), we would ask for your commitment to undertake a SVQ and to become registered.
PVG checks will be required for the successful applicant, as are two references: one being from the most recent employer.
