An exciting opportunity has come up for an experienced HSE & Compliance Advisor who will report to the Head of People & Culture and will be based at our Kelburn office, Port Glasgow.
You will proactively lead on the Company's HSE/Compliance policies and procedures, whilst actively promoting safe working practices on and off site.
Key duties include but are not limited to:
- Being the first point of contact for all employees to answer any HSE related queries.
- Conducting regular site/office inspections to check that the Company's policies and procedures are being properly implemented and complied with and that working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
- Preparing HSE strategies and developing internal policies and procedures in conjunction with the Senior Management Team.
- Developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with key stake holders, to ensure a safe working environment and managing day-to-day HSE issues, providing advice and guidance as required.
- Maintaining records of inspection findings and producing reports that demonstrate improvements as well as reporting incidents, accidents or unsafe behaviours and conducting investigations and identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Keeping up to date with new and existing HSE/Compliance legislation.
- Producing management reports, safety bulletins/briefings and deliver internal training/toolbox talks as required.
- Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
- Providing any other support and or guidance on any other HSE/Compliance issues.
- Carrying out all risk assessments and providing guidance on adjustments required.
- Reviewing company HSE & Compliance policies annually, sending them off to be signed by CEO (where renewal or if any changes) and uploading to IHASCO, archiving old versions
- Regularly reviewing and updating Quality Management System with any HSE/Compliance changes
- Maintaining non-conformance register with all issues/non-conformances with corrective actions/improvements
- In conjunction with the Compliance Manager:
Assist with all Internal Audits
Maintain online certification audits and provide documentation to auditors and or executive/management team
Update PQQ Tenders with Compliance and or HSE data
Set up new starts onto training, enrolling them and refresher training
Key Skills & Experience:
- Able to support change, influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work flexibly to support business needs as required.
- Strong working knowledge of UK HSE/Compliance legislation.
- Able to demonstrate evidence of problem solving.
- Competent using computer based packages, excel, word a MS Outlook and.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skill with the ability to prioritise/multi task.
- Able to work on own initiative with little support.
- Proactive approach to work and generating ideas - challenges the status quo suggest new ideas/processes of working.
- Experience in HSE/Compliance role.
Qualifications:
- HSE or similar Qualification
- Chartered ISOH certificate or working towards
- Full Driver’s License
- Mental Health First Aider (preferred)
- Compliance Certificate (preferred)

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
