Compliance and Conduct Risk Director, Propel Finance

Reporting to the Group COO, the Compliance and Conduct Risk Director will be responsible for ensuring that the company operates within applicable regulatory frameworks, is compliant with all relevant regulatory legislation and manages the reputational, operationaland conduct risks to which the company is exposed.

The role will hold SMF 16 Compliance Oversight and SMF 17 MLRO.

The role will support the ambitious UK growth tangent of the company and continued commitment to the highest standards of regulatory and financial crime compliance.

The role will be pivotal in assisting the senior leadership team balance the risk-management imperatives and the needs of the business to ensure that our approach to risk accurately reflects the business context. The role holder will be expected to go beyondimplementing checklists or improving the links between operational teams and will focus on explicit management dialogue about nonfinancial risk-about where it can occur and how it is being mitigated-and challenge appropriately where the cost of control maybe too high, given the value at stake

Responsible for the oversight of the Compliance team including strategic and operational delivery of the Annual Compliance Plan and Risk Control Framework implementation across the business.

**Essential Skills and Knowledge**
- Proven previous experience in the Asset Finance sector
- Have previously held SMF16/17
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills and ability to provide commercially savvy compliance advice
- Extensive experience in a risk, fraud, compliance, AML or regulatory function, working within an FCA regulated business
- Solutions driven appetite to act as a business enabler but also resilience to hold firm where necessary to protect the business and deliver adherence to applicable laws/regulation
- Professional certification in compliance and/or risk management
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced organization maintaining close contact with relevant teams across multiple locations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide useful and efficient counsel
- Strong understanding of risk management practices including performing risk assessments, periodic/trigger reviews, design of a risk and control management framework and enhanced due diligence
- Strong working knowledge of AML/CFT, Data Privacy and Bribery legislation and regulation
- Understanding of FCA Handbook and appropriate sourcebooks (CONC/PRIN/SYSC/GEN/COCON/FIT)
