We are working with a well-respected multi academy trust to find them an IT Technical Specialist. You will support IT

Technicians based in schools across Manchester and Salford. You will be the person they come to when an IT issue is outside of their skillset.

The MAT has a considerable IT support team and is looking to grow further. This is a new role created as the MAT have steadily acquired new schools in the last few years. You will be supported by an experienced and effective Deputy Area IT Manager and AreaIT Manager.

This role would suit a school Network Manager looking for the next step in their career.

You will need to be an innate problem solver with strong technical ability, who can manage multiple priorities to ensure the _team_ wins, not just the individual.

**Key Details**:

- £36k - £40k.
- Outstanding pension. Employer contributions paid at 18.2%.
- Hours are 08:00 to 16:00 with a 30-minute lunch.
- Monday to Friday.
- All year round.
- Evening, weekend, and bank holiday working is rare.

**Duties of the IT Technical Specialist**:

- Implement all policies and procedures relating to security, backup, disaster recovery and acceptable use, as directed by the IT Service Manager across the IT Service
- Contribute to the technical and professional development of other members of the IT Service team.
- Support, assist and train as required all staff, students and visitors as deemed appropriate.
- Support the IT Service Managers by reporting on the performance of the IT Service against the SLAs
- Carry out proactive management of school IT infrastructure, ensuring systems are running optimally.
- Supporting in the ongoing maintenance of accurate and up-to-date hardware asset registers in academies which are used to inform the IT Refresh Strategy and Strategic Development Plan, in line with the annual budget cycle.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date software registers within academies part of the IT cluster service, including license details, renewal dates and costs, which is used to inform the IT Refresh Strategy and Strategic Development Plan, in linewith the annual budget cycle.
- Support in the testing and prove the efficacy of the backup procedures on a scheduled basis within academies part of the IT cluster service
- Support in the management of active network components including switches filters and routers
- Assist in the management of Wide Area Network links in academies part of the IT cluster service in conjunction with United Learning and third parties
- Support the installation of additional servers and upgrading of the network operating system as required within academies that are part of the IT service cluster

**The IT Technical Specialist Must Have Knowledge of**:

- Networking and server systems, with the ability to trouble-shoot and resolve issues.
- Effective service management methodologies (FITS/ ITIL or similar).
- The major technologies typically deployed to schools, including wireless and wired networking, server infrastructure, audio-visual, end-user devices and common software. In-depth knowledge of the deployment and use of Office 365.
- ICT packages: Office, Outlook, Windows.
- Microsoft 365: Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive.
- How IT is effectively used in teaching and learning.
- Windows Server environments including hypervisor deployments in both Hyper-V and VMWare.
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
- Layer 3 Network Management and WAN optimisation.
- Windows Desktop Deployments.
- Anti Virus technologies.
- Backup solutions.
- Managing networks.

**The IT Technical Specialist Must Have**:

- Highly developed diagnostic and technical trouble-shooting skills
- The ability to provide one-to-one training to school technical staff in common processes.
- A genuine interest in technology and a clear strategy for keeping up to date with developments
- The determined mind-set needed to pursue issues to their resolution, seeking support or finding answers for themselves.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Experience of leading and developing team(s) in delivering technical excellence
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work closely and establish positive working relationships throughout the schools and with other key stakeholders.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to both work using own initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
- High levels of personal and professional integrity.
- Able to manage staff, set and monitor work and ensure completed.
- Ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
