The post holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS Service and will be based within the YJS. This post will be focused on early intervention and ensuring that groups of vulnerable children and young people have access to mental health advice and support. The post holder is responsible for providing mental health assessments and brief psychotherapeutic interventions and assisting in navigating local mental health systems for children and young people who are involved with the YJS. The role will also involve providing advice, training and consultation to other members of YJS, parent (s) / carer (s) and other agencies. The post will provide a close link between CAMHS and YJS.

To ensure high quality mental health assessment of children and young people referred to YJS where indicated.
To identify the need for assessment through liaison with the Police, Courts, Probation, YJS, CAMHS and other appropriate agencies for young offenders who may also be experiencing mental health issues.
To provide access to a range of quality psychotherapeutic interventions in accordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approaches either alone or as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
To provide consultation to the YJS Practitioners
To provide clinical and managerial supervision to the wider CAMHS team
Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of the MDT.
To be responsible for and manage a defined complex caseload and undertake case management responsibilities within the caseload.
To contribute to the development of the Oldham CAMHS Youth Justice Care Pathway

Oldham CAMHS Youth Justice care pathway is commissioned to provide a targeted service for children and young people who are open to the service. It is a consultation assessment and treatment care pathway for children and young people as identified as having mental or emotional health difficulties. The pathway has been developed and informed by principles of Greater Manchester Thrive Framework for system change. this framework is used to set out a collaborative and needs led provision of services for children and young people and their mental health.

To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the child / young person and others in line with Pennine Care and CAMHS and YJS procedures and protocols.
Undertake liaison and joint work with other agencies.
To give advice and support to the manager of the Youth Offending Service in terms of the development of services to meet the mental health needs of young offenders.
To provide consultation and training on a wide range of children / young people’s emotional health and well-being issues to professionals from a range of services including GP’s, Early Help and Primary Care Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Social Care and Education Services.
To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by the use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROM) and where outcomes are not improving for children, young people and families to engage in clinical review via peer review meetings and supervision.
To be based across the Youth Justice Service and Oldham CAMHS sites and be available to Youth Justice Colleagues for consultation and advice.
