Sutton Valence School consists of Sutton Valence School (SVS) and Sutton Valence

Preparatory School (SVPS).

Whilst not fiercely selective on entry, its value added statistics are impressive. For

10% nationally for adding value, managing to bring out the academic potential in

every pupil. Equally impressive is the breadth of education on offer, which at GCSE

is tailored to each pupil’s strengths, recognising that academic achievement is only

one measure of success.

The Senior School’s roll is currently 560 of which 140 are boarders. Class sizes are

small and the overall pupil-staff ratio of 9:1 enables Sutton Valence pupils to

benefit from the close guidance and individual attention of teachers. The academic

**Job Specification**
This is an on-site job in various locations owned by the School, contained within

the village of Sutton Valence. The buildings to be cleaned include purpose built

and listed buildings, classrooms, laboratories, boarding and residential

accommodation. The post holder, reporting to the Cleaning Team Leader, will be

required to undertake the cleaning duties of a designated area to ensure a high

standard of cleanliness and hygiene.

The main tasks include:

- Daily cleaning of the designated area. Such duties will include hoovering,

washing of surfaces, the collection and disposal of all rubbish and dusting

and weekly polishing of all furniture including brass;
- Cleaners of boarding houses assist the Matron in ensuring that

housekeeping is of the highest standard, thereby helping house staff and

pupils to enjoy a happy, comfortable and well-ordered living environment;
- Additional duties will include, from time-to-time, preparation of the

boarding house(s) for external hirings and the cleaning of vacant residential

properties.

The post holder would need to have the ability to:

- Maintain a high standard of hygiene by adhering to COSSH guidelines;
- Have excellent attention to detail;
- Take pride in your work;
- Be flexible.

Experience in a similar role is very desirable, although full training will be given.

**Additional Information**

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible person to work

on varied cleaning tasks in a friendly team. The hours of work are 7.00am
- 3.00pm Monday to Friday. The starting rate of pay is £9.40 per hour for 52

weeks of the year. The annual holiday entitlement is five weeks, in addition to

public holidays, and are usually taken outside of term time.

The School operates a contributory pension scheme, which is open to all

members of staff. Staff are provided with a uniform and full training will be

given. Staff with a contract for at least one full term and have children who

attend either the Senior or Preparatory School will be eligible to receive a

discount in respect of School fees (excluding the Nursery). The current rate of

discount is 65% for full-time staff, and for part-time staff the relevant

percentage will be calculated on a pro rata basis. All School sites have ample car

parking spaces available.
