We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Homelessness Prevention Officer to join our Young People’s Pathway Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with young people aged 16-25 across North Yorkshire, helping them to avoid homelessness and build brighter futures.

**About the Role**

As a Homelessness Prevention Officer, you will:

- Work with young people and their families or carers to prevent homelessness through early intervention, including mediation.
- Carry out timely assessments and develop tailored support plans.
- Collaborate with Housing Options Officers and Children’s Services to ensure statutory duties are met.
- Support the delivery of the Young People’s Accommodation Pathway through joint working with internal and external partners.
- Be based primarily in the Scarborough, Whitby and Filey area, with flexibility to support the wider North Yorkshire team as needed.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage a caseload of young people at risk of homelessness.
- Complete and record screening assessments for all 16 and 17-year-olds.
- Assess and monitor risk levels, referring to specialist services where appropriate.
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of support needs.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service development.

Training will be provided to support the hybrid nature of this role, which bridges housing and children’s social care.
