We are currently recruiting a Research Assistant on a temporary 6 month contract, to contribute to research and consultancy activity, including conducting a systematic literature review and database searches, drafting data collection tools (such as questionnaires,focus groups and interviews schedule), setting up stakeholder events and meeting and supporting data collection activities.
The project
Widening access and improving retention and career progression into the Paramedic Profession for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Groups within the West Midlands.
This project is composed of three workstreams including three independent interventions covering the whole paramedic professional cycle from pre-qualification to post-qualification. The research assistant will conduct the background work to support the implementationof the three workstreams/ interventions.
Workstream 1: Widening access and entry into paramedic sciences
Workstream 2: The use of asset-based community development (ABCD) framework to support engagement and empowerment of ethnically diverse paramedic students
Workstream 3: Creating a sustainable leadership progression for ethnically diverse groups within WMAS

**Responsibilities**:
1.Undertake guided Research.
2.Plan own day-to-day research activity, co-ordinate own work with that of others and contribute to the planning of research projects.
3.Contribute to the communication of output of research activity.
4.Develop internal and external contacts to further knowledge and understanding, contribute to knowledge exchange events and form relationships for future collaboration
5.Support the development and delivery of consultancy projects and/or professional learning and development programmes.
6.Support knowledge exchange, Intellectual Property commercialisation, social enterprise, entrepreneurship education and strategic partnership development.
7.Contribute to develop an understanding of cultural, linguistic, professional and personal ways of interacting, communicating and working with others in an international working environment.
8.Assist in the supervision of student projects and provide guidance on the use of research methods and equipment, including contribution to introductory courses and learning materials.
Person Specification
*Sound knowledge of research methods relevant to health and/or social sciences
*Experience of working as a Research Assistant in to health and/or social sciences
*Desire to publish conference or journal papers related to health or social sciences.
*Up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant discipline and contribute to innovation and development in own field.
*Excellent communicator, organised approach to work, confident in working independently and as part of a team.
*Demonstrate adherence to regulations e.g. ethics, legal requirements
*Excellent communication skills will be essential, both in terms of verbal communication and written communication.
