**Catering Assistant**
A Catering Assistant is required by a registered charity based in Leigh. For the past years, this organisation has met the needs of people in crisis with provision of furniture, food, clothes, accommodation, skills training, education and advocacy. They havea holistic approach to a person’s life in crisis, helping people to live independently from total dependency.
**Role Overview**:

- To assist in cooking meals.
- To ensure a good supply of food is held
- To ensure the kitchen and relevant areas are maintained safely and that health and safety is adhered to at all times.
- To be aware of the regulations regarding the kitchen and food preparation.
- To ensure that meals are delivered on time.
- To ensure that every step is taken to help eliminate cross contamination of food.
- To record temperatures and maintain the efficiency of fridges and freezers.
- To ensure that food temperatures are monitored and recorded.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**:

- To maintain a professional manner at all times.
- To be aware of health and safety issues and act safely at all times.
- To be aware of and adhere to the policies and procedures in place.
- To be competent in the completion of relevant records and documentation.
- To maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To assist in providing varied and nutritional meals.
- To assist in providing special diets where required.
- Ensuring that anybody entering the kitchen is authorised to do so and adheres to the policies and procedures.

**Skills & Experience**:

- Previous catering experience essential
- Relevant catering qualification
- food safety level 2 preferred
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to change and take on different tasks as and when required
- Driving licence preferred
